last time i was frustrated at how everything was fighting us coming out. going in went alot easier, and now im motivated to get it going so things are going fast. i know im going to sell the thing eventually but i might as well enjoy it for alittle while.

i didnt wrench on it today, but i did get some stuff @ the auto parts store that i needed to complete it. may go out in a little while to wrench on it tonight.

definitely let me know on that port how it is for $150. I'm hopefully pulling the s/c off the top end setup next weekend to paint the lower intake and stuff, so I may send my case out as well if yours turns out nice.

And what year navi pump did you end up ordering at the parts store?

well heres another update! the L is done. just need a blower to bolt on and i can fire it up! i havent touched the truck since friday. all the damn rain we got, i was dealing with other problems and didnt feel like wrenching. so i worked on it tonight for alittle bit and finished everything up. i think im going to bolt the mp on it for the meantime just to fire it up, check for leaks and get it outta the garage so i can move the hd in. luckily the guy that bought the mp isnt in any hurry for it lol

I'm sure you'll have at least one leak though. Whenever I touch an engine on an R&R something always leaks! LoL! Just a curse that follows me! Last time it was a friggin pinhole in my lower rad hose from the clamp haha

ugh dont say that! i didnt have any leaks when i did the motor in the hd. oh and i lied about the truck being done. i have to hook up the heat exchanger, and front bumper also.

well here is some new news on the L saga lol. i couldnt take it anymore, registered it and insured. slapped the magnum powers on it and went to a last minute gtg. all i have to say is open headers and a mp scream is insane. this was thursday. on my way to the gtg i gave her some throttle and all of a sudden all i saw was smoke! i mean alot of smoke. well i guess when the motor blew there must have been alot of oil in the exhaust. after a mile it all burnt out, thank god! before the gtg thursday i threw the mp on (thanks for being patient tony) and installed billet grills, and hid fogs.

now fast forward to sat. i finally put her closer to the ground, at least the front. i put a set of roush 2" springs in the front with no iso's. its not slammed but looks 100x better. actually rides real good, and sits the same as my hd. im going to try and get the rear end done today with some belltech shackles.

monday it is getting dropped off to have the exhaust rewelded where i cut it. i also dropped off the old sct x2 @ jdm to have a tune put on it. i upgraded my hd to the x3. for some reason though it doesnt like it. even though i have a dead cyl and one is done on comp. it would sit there and idle. with the x3 it just dies on me. and my fuel press. is low. i have only 5% fuel left, so that could be it, but it used to run fine on the x2. once the lightning is lowered i plan on moving it out of the way and pulling the hd in the garage to begin the motor pull.

Rich, there isnt any issue they may have overlooked with your HD being it has a 01 N/A computer in it? Or were they able to just throw your exact tune onto the x3?

Going to bring it down to the rental Thursday?

I'm down for helping yank the motor in the HD next week! Gotta get crackin on that thing so its ready for CDML!

and man oh man, you want that power back! The L may be fun, but nothing like the power your HD has on the full built twin screw setup! I finally got Hyde out on Saturday. 2 of my coil packs were filled with water. Can't wait to get all my mad-seals on this weekend. Anyway took it out for a spin on all 8 cylinders this time, and man I forgot how powerful that damn thing is! 1/4 throttle out of the hole and tires screaching for mercy! 1/2 throttle and sideways hauling azz down the road I can't wait to race it again!

i may not be able to bring the L thursday. im having an issue where the acc. belt and s/c belt keep skipping ribs toward the motor. i put the balancer on all the way, but the guy i got the motor from is having an issue where his balancer is smashed into the timing cover. from what i have been reading is that they changed the crank gear in 03 to a thinner one and this could be our issues. since the motor was a factory reman 03 motor, and my truck is an 01. we should know more tomorrow.

Rich, how'd you put the balancer on? Did you torque it down all the way, or just with the impact? Because it does have some crazy high torque rating IIRC.

Also I had an issue with my belt jumping a rib after my 1st motor swap and it was the power steering pulley. it was pressed onto the shaft too far. I have no idea how it got pressed on further during the swapover cuz it just sat in the engine bay like yours did, but it happened.

Now that shouldn't throw both belts, but I did have another time where the belt jumped a rib and that piece flew off and caused the other belt to jump a rib from the debris flinging around.
